We are excited to announce Meg Hirshberg as this years Enterprising Women of Excellence Awards’ keynote speaker, sponsored by Wells Fargo.
Hirshberg works as a freelance writer and contributing editor at Inc. Magazine. Her column, titled Balancing Acts, covers the impact of entrepreneurial businesses on families and marriages.
Hirshberg plans to release the first copy of her book For Better or for Work: A Survival Guide for Entrepreneurs and Their Families the week before the event.
As the wife of an entrepreneur (her husband, Gary, is the President and CEO of Stonyfield Farm and Stonyfield Yogurt), Hirshberg offers firsthand insight and advice on how to survive the rocky road that is starting your own business. She describes how she and Gary dodged a bullet by actually starting a business that became profitable. In a large amount of cases, businesses fail and take marriages down with them.
She addresses topics such as handling family businesses, living with an entrepreneurial-driven spouse, how to build a business that is also good for your marriage, and how to handle unexpected roadblocks (like a child getting sick) in her column at Inc. Magazine.
Aside from her column and multiple books under her belt, Hirshberg travels the country speaking to different groups about balancing work and life issues. Past audiences have included the Women’s Business Center and the VCU School of Business.
Testimonials of Hirshberg’s speaking abilities can be found on her website.
